Creating With Scraps

One of the many things I love about Close To My Heart’s paper packs is how much beautiful paper you get!  You can create so many awesome 12x12 pages and have paper left over.  One thing I get asked a lot by customers is “what do you do with all your scraps?'”.

There are so many things you can do with those scraps.  You can make gift tags, bookmarks, turn them into paper flowers and other embellishments, or you can make handmade greeting cards.

Making a card yourself is a way to show someone you truly care.  The fact that you took the time to create that card is so special to the recipient.  Now, I always have those few people say “But I am so not creative or artistic”.  Well good news!  You do not have to be.  There aren’t any rules to making cards OR to scrapbooking, for that matter.  You do not need to spend thousands of dollars on classes, or have years of experience.  All you need is some small scraps of patterned paper/cardstock and some confidence.  I am here to show you how.  Take a look here:

This is what I used:  Some colonial white cardstock, scrap pieces of patterned paper from CTMH’S “Wings” paper pack, scallop punch, button, waxy flax, and a few small embellishments.

Now sometimes I have a hard time coming up with a design idea for my cards and that is where “Wishes” comes in.  “Wishes” is the CTMH card confidence program..a great reference book for any paper crafter!  My card’s design is “Sentiment Secured”.  If you have your CTMH 2011 Spring/Summer Idea Book, you can find “Wishes” on page 4 (9033).  If you don’t have a catalog and would like one, contact me at valentino.danielle@yahoo.com

This month I will be hosting a Cardmaking 101 class.  I will show you how to use a few things in addition to some scraps to create the most beautiful cards.  Stay tuned for schedule!

National Scrapbooking Month Promotion

It's All Good!

Hi there.  Happy May to you all.  It has been quite eventful since my last post and I would love to share with you all that has been going on.....

Spring break came upon us late in April this year.  But the weather shaped up and we got to take our annual trip to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg.  We had a blast and got to spend much needed family time together.  These are the precious moments I love to journal and scrap.

April closed out with me celebrating my 39th birthday :( :).  I absolutely love my birthday but must say this year was a little tough knowing the big 40 is next year and there is no turning back!  In between I held some great workshops/classes (including a great photo box and card class for Mother's Day gifts) and continue to take catalog party orders.

Now we are in May.  What a great month so far!  On the 7th of the month, my youngest daughter, Mia, received her First Holy Communion.  What a beautiful ceremony and even better, got to spend the day with family as we celebrated this special event

The very next day was Mother's Day....my wonderful husband and beautiful little girls made the day so special for me.  I couldn't have asked for a better day.  Starting the day off with church and my 1st communicant being a part of the May procession, a nice breakfast, and a day of planting flowers in our garden and grilling!!!  Doesn't get better than that.  Now I spend the next two weeks wrapping up school stuff as my teaching job ends for the school year on the 27th.

Life is busy and I am LOVING every minute.  Creating memories with my loved ones and preserving each and every one.  Close To My Heart has some great stuff going on this month as well.  First, join our team of amazing consultants and help teach those around you the art of scrapbooking, stamping, and cardmaking this month and get started for 50% LESS!!!!  Visit me at createwithdanielle.myctmh.com for more information.

Stay tuned for more great info and schedule of upcoming events!
