Simple Layouts

Having a relaxing Saturday going through summer pics and getting my own personal scrapbook caught up with.  Here is a simple layout I did using the last of my Fanfare paper pack from CTMH.

My favorite part of this layout was embossing the Dimensional Elements “Star” with Dragon Red embossing powder……added a little sparkle…

Got Scraps? Will Travel!

So far, the summer has been treating us well.  Once the girls got out of school for the year, we wasted no time and headed down to Myrtle Beach, SC for our “beach week”.  On our way back up north we stopped off at Williamsburg, VA and enjoyed a day at Busch Gardens.  One of our favorite places to be.

One thing I noticed is that  there were so many little things that I wanted to journal and scrap (like funny things the kids said, or menus and drink coasters from fun restaurants).  So I thought it would be fun to create a travel journal/mini scrapbook.  Something that would pop right in my beach bag or purse so I could just stick stuff in quickly and jot little notes down.  At the end of the summer, the kids could flip through the book and remember their summer adventures.  So here is what I made for our summer travel journal:

Wings Journal 003

I started off with a Close To My Heart My Creations Journal (page 120 of the Spring/Summer 2011 catalog).  With some paper from a Level 2 Wings paper pack and stickease, I covered the front and back pages (inside included).  I added some paper flowers (made by using a 1 1/4” punch and brads), playful ribbon, and some cool talismans to dress it up.  I even added a curio knob to be used to open the book when those are entering the world of our treasured memories.

If you would like to make your own summer travel journal/mini scrapbook, join us on Wednesday, July 20th at 7:00pm.  For $15 per person, you can take your very own journal, like the one above, home to enjoy!  To RSVP, send me an email valentino.danielle@yahoo.com or comment to this post on Facebook.

Paper Flower Bookmarks

After finishing some scrapbook layouts using Fanfare and Sweetheart from Close To My Heart, I had some scraps left over.  I hate to waste such pretty paper, so I try to create fun handmade cards and other small trinkets.  Today I made some cute bookmarks by topping of giant paperclips with handmade paper flowers.

The flowers were made by using the CTMH 2” scallop circle punch on patterned paper.  I then hot glued the flowers to the clip.  Super easy and very fun to make!  The scallop circle punch can be found on page 123 of the Spring/Summer 2011 Idea Book.  Go to my website for more details createwithdanielle.myctmh.com.

Fanfare Fun!

So I worked on my Close To My Heart “Fanfare” workshop kit in preparation for an upcoming class.  I love this paper!  It is so fun and versatile…..There is more to celebrate in life than birthdays.  This kind of reminded me to celebrate all of my family’s accomplishments as so many goals are being reached this year.  Pictured here is the layout from the workshop with some little tweaks here and there.  I wanted to use this paper to scrap my oldest daughter’s 5th grade activities that were celebrating her last year as an elementary school kid.

I added some stamping as well as buttons, embroidery floss, and scallop punches.

In addition to the 6 pages I completed, I also created some “thank you” cards for those great teacher friends in my family’s life.

AND……so great fun stuff like memo pads, pens (thanks to a fellow consultant buddy, Michelle Auten, for the inspiration with the microbeads Smile), and magnets.
